After hitting a pair of three's that tied the game to end regulation and win the game in overtime on Saturday Brust capped off a memorable week and for that effort and his stellar performance overall last week Ben Brust has been named the Big Ten's co-Player of the Week.
He had 14 points in the win on Saturday and 18 points (a team high) in the double overtime win against Iowa earlier in the week. This is the first Player of the Week honor for Brust and the first for a Badgers player since Jordan Taylor last season (1/23/12).
The Player of the Week honors are shared with the Illini's D.J. Richardson, who averaged 18.0 points a game win wins over Indiana and Minnesota.
For the season Brust is 2nd on the Badgers in scoring, averaging 11.2 points a game, and is shooting 40% from deep on the season. His 3 point prowess also ranks up there in the conference overall. Brust ranks 7th in made three pointers (52) and 8th in 3pt percentage.
Wisconsin takes on Minnesota at Williams Arena and hosts Ohio State over the next week and Brust's hot performances as of late will be really helpful against those two opponents.
