Pat Muldoon to Badger Football 2013

It's the end of May and that means inching ever so closer to the start of fall camp and the beginning of real football taking place. That also means the itch of Badger fans to get the season underway is starting its upward trend as well.

Today marks 92 days, or as we like to say…. Pat Muldoon till the 2013 season officially kicks off!! Muldoon is a name you should already know and a name we're likely to be very familiar with in 2013 as he fits perfect in the new 3-4 scheme as a defensive end. Can the redshirt senior be a decisive playmaker? That is the question in front of him and the defense as whole in 2013.

But, let's explore the story of Mr. Muldoon, shall we?

Story So Far:

– Made 6 starts in 2012, recording career highs in tackles (15), tackles for loss (5.5) and sacks (2.5)
– He's a two time Academic All-Big Ten selection, grabbing those honors in 2010 and 2012
– Muldoon has made appearances in 36 games in his previous three years at Wisconsin

History of No. 92 at Wisconsin:

When it comes to No. 92 at the UW there should be three names that come to mind and two of which are very recent names as well.

Carlos Fowler (1990-1993) played on the first Alvarez coached Rose Bowl team and started 35 games in his Badger career. Fowler also happened to be a part of the magical 1990 class, the class that is credited with turning around the UW program and Alvarez's first. In fact, may I suggest this bit of awesomeness from Andy Baggot just a few year ago. Fowler went on to play Arena Football after a stint in NFL Europe as well.

Jonathan Welsh (2001-04) recorded 13 career sacks, good for 14th on the all-time list. His best single season was the 2003 year that saw him record career highs in tackles (50), tackles for loss (11.5), and sacks (8). He saw time in the NFL after his playing days as a Badger, catching on with the Indianapolis Colts for two seasons.

Matt Shaughnessy (2005-2008) was one of the most productive defensive lineman the Badgers have had in recent memory. Shaughnessy's best season in the Cardinal and White was 2007 where he recorded a ridiculous 18 tackles for loss to go along with 5 sacks. He ranks 8th in career tackles for loss with 41.5 and 12 on the all-time sacks list with 18.5. He also happens to have one of the better careers in the NFL as well, being drafted in the 2nd round of the 2009 Draft.
