Rob Havenstein to Badger Football 2013

We are under 80 days to Badger football and it's sate to say we here at MTB have our anxious energy cranking up a notch or two. It's also true that we are reaching into the heart of the Wisconsin program for most of the past 23 years – the offensive line.

After profiling Mr. Versatile, a.k.a. Ryan Groy yesterday we flip over to the other side and perhaps the only reason Groy hasn't started all five positions at Wisconsin – Rob Havenstein. He happens to be one mammoth individual, standing at 6 feet 8 inches tall and weighing 338lbs. (the second heaviest offensive lineman on the UW roster). For most of us it seems like he has been at Wisconsin forever, but he's just entering his redshirt junior season and is just hitting his stride, which is scary. So, let us give you more on the right tackle extraordinaire.

Story So Far:

– Havenstein has seen action in all but one game so far in his career at Wisconsin, playing in 27 of 28 games and starting 15 (14 in 2012 and 1 in 2011).
– Named a preseason 2nd team All-Big Ten selection by Phil Steele

History of No. 78 at Wisconsin:

Ross Kolodziej (DT, 1997-2000): A standout defensive tackle on perhaps two of the best defensive lines in Wisconsin history, with the 1998 defense ranking first nationally in scoring defense and the 1999 team ranking 5th in the same category. Went on to play seven seasons in the NFL and was also a standout track athlete at Wisconsin.

Jake Wood (OL, 2001-2004): He lettered at Wisconsin in 2003 and 2004 as an offensive lineman, but it's what he's done since that we honor here. Wood served in the Marines following his time at Wisconsin and has since gone on to help found Team Rubicon – a disaster relief foundation that works to help around the world with disaster relief by using the skills of ex-military members and specialists in different areas of the country and around the world.
