Abbrederis named to Hornung Award Watch List

It's Preseason Award watch list time and that means we'll be getting updates nearly every day for the next few weeks, but for the Badgers things got started today as wide receiver Jared Abbrederis was named to the Paul Hornung Award watch list along with 43 other players.

The Paul Hornung Award goes to the most versatile player in college football. Last season the award went to Tavon Austin of West Virginia. Abbrederis was named to the watch list last season as well, but was not named a finalist for the award. He joins ex-Badger wide receiver David Gilreath as the only Badgers to be on the award watch list.

Abbrederis has 124 career receptions for 2,059 yards and 16 touchdowns but also stars as a punt returner, averaging 11.2 yards a return in 44 career returns. Last season Abbrederis had 49 receptions for 837 yards and 5 touchdowns receiving, while also returning 17 punts for 111 yards.

Fellow Big Ten players Ameer Abdullah, Corey Brown, Akeem Hunt,  and Venric Mark also made the preseason watch list. The full list can be found here.
