Only 49 more days to the start of the Wisconsin Badgers 2013 campaign!! For us here at MTB that means we're just Sam Arneson to Badger football kicking off and we don't know about you, but we're excited to see what Arneson has in store for us in his junior season in the Cardinal and White.
Arneson's Story So Far:
– Arneson has started just two games in his first two seasons, but has appeared in 23 games overall.
– He caught four passes for 19 yards last season, but don't let the low numbers fool you – two of those catches were for touchdowns – including a TD catch in the Big Ten Championship game.
– Was named academic All-Big Ten in 2012 and is majoring in Kinesiology.
History of No. 49 at Wisconsin:
Harold Rebholz (FB, 1927-29): He was a two-sport athlete at Wisconsin, also playing hockey (Yes hockey was played at UW back then). Rbholz rushed for 900 yards as a fullback, despite his light stature (even for his day) and earned team MVP honors as well as Honorable Mention All-American honors in the 1929 season.
Nick Greisen (LB, 1998-2001): Greisen wore this number for two seasons at Wisconsin (his first two at UW) and went on to finish his career with 337 tackles, 11 sacks and 5 interceptions. In his final season at UW he recorded the 5th best single season of tackles in Badger history with 167, earning him 1st team All-Big Ten honors. Greisen went on to play eight seasons in the NFL.
