Well how about that, the fans did a great job picking teams. In a game that saw everyone get some minutes, the Red Squad defeated the White Squad 67-65.

The Red Squad, comprised of more veteran players than the White Squad jumped out to a 37-32 halftime lead and eventually led by as many as 13 points in the second half before the White Squad made a valiant comeback.

That comeback cumulated with the game tied at 65 and 20 seconds remaining. A Zach Bohannon lay-up made the score 67-65 and a Sam Dekker three-pointer wouldn’t fall after.

Let’s move onto the box.

  • Again, Dekker led all scorers in the game with 18 points. He’s a legit NBA prospect, and that’s uncharted water for a sophomore at Wisconsin.
  • Frank Kaminsky had a nice game rebounding, as he led the game with nine. He’s going to have to keep that up as he’s the big man threat on the team.
  • Overall, the guard play was very balanced on both teams with Ben Brust scoring 16, George Marshall scoring 14, Josh Gasser scoring 11, and Zak Showalter scoring ten. That’s not even mentioning Bronson Koenig or Traevon Jackson who could contribute as well. I’m sticking with my prediction that this Wisconsin team is going to look different than anything we’ve seen under Bo.
  • Nigel Hayes and Duje Dukan both had already games, scoring six each. I’d like to see more than two rebounds each though. One of these two (or Bohannon) is going to step up.

It’s less than two weeks until the St. John’s game. Next on the schedule is an exhibition game against Bo’s old team, UW-Platteville. Tip-off for the game is 7 p.m. on Wednesday with coverage from both BTN.com and the Badger Sports Network.
