Early Basketball Preview: UW-Milwaukee

It'd be nice to have an in-state football rival…

The season has begun, but we still have a few of these to sprinkle in.

Next up is another in-state rival: UW-Milwaukee. The Badgers face the Panthers at home on Wednesday, December 11 at 7 p.m.

School: UW-Milwaukee Panthers

Location: Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Conference: Horizon League

Undergrad Enrollment: 25,271

2012-13 record: (8-24, 3-13 Horizon)

Top returning players: Jordan Aaron is the leading scorer returner for the Panthers. He averaged 14 a game. Other than that, Austin Arians returns after averaging 6.6 a game last year. A little question on him that someone in the Madison area might be able to answer. He’s listed as being from Stoughton but going to Edgewood. What’s the radius Edgewood draws from?

Who’d win in a mascot fight?: The badger just can’t buy a break in this game. It’s a ferocious little animal, but come on, it’s a panther. I’ve got to go with the panther on this one, although it’d be a weird fight.

One interesting major: American Sign Language Studies

One fact to help you win your local trivia night: Many students in Happy Days attended UW-Milwaukee in the show’s later years.

Prediction: These games are always closer than they should be. At home though, I see the Badgers comfortably taking this one by about 15 or so.
