Don't tell anyone that a strong performance in the state playoffs doesn't matter anymore. After helping to lead his Greendale team to the WIAA State finals, offensive lineman Jacob Maxwell received an offer from the Badgers.
On Wednesday afternoon he made an unofficial visit and came away committed to playing football at the University of Wisconsin, according to a report by our partners at Badger247. Maxwell flipped from a Northern Illinois commit to the Badgers.
He is a 2-star prospect by 247sports and in the composite rankings as well. The 6-6, 285lbs senior was only receiving interest from the Huskies and Badgers and it took just one sit-down on his unofficial visit to say yes to the in-state school.
Maxwell is the 22nd committed player for the Badgers 2014 class and the fourth offensive lineman in the group. He joins fellow in-state prospects Jaden Gault and George Panos, as well as Michael Deiter as committed offensive linemen.
After a stellar performance this season Maxwell earned first team all-state honors.
You can check out his Hudl highlight tape from his senior season here.
On that tape you see an offensive lineman that likes to play downhill in the run game and may need some work in terms of technique, but the raw skills are there for him to project as a better inside player than a tackle at this point in his career. He is athletic enough to pull and plays with a meanness needed.
He could be a sleeper in this class, but will need to work on his pass blocking footwork the most going forward.
