The Sconnie Scoop: Borland One of ESPN’s Ultimate 300

It's been awhile since our "Sconnie Scoop" has made an appearance, but with the offseason it's perfect timing for a return.

Today there's talk of Chris Borland, an A for effort F for execution burn and more! Come inside and enjoy the latest from around the Badgersphere.

First up is some more recognition for now former Badger linebacker Chris Borland. The folks over at ESPN have put together their "Ultimate 300" list of recruits in recent college football history. Borland comes in as the No. 102-ranked prospect. That, after ESPN failed to even rank him coming out of high school in Ohio.

Gotta love the respect Borland is getting now that his collegiate playing days are over. To that end, he earned some great praise for his play this past weekend. James White was named the North's Most Outstanding Player as well.

Gee, imagine that, Chris Borland's athleticism makes up for his "height issues," sounds like another His performance may boost him in to the the top two rounds of the upcoming draft.

Speaking of Russell Wilson (if you couldn't pick up on that before), he also is on the ESPN Ultimate 300 list, coming in at No. 184.

Then there is this Wilson-inspired epic fail:

Love the effort and the sentiment and all, it's very SEC of whomever did it, but notice something wrong with the billboard? Yep, that's Russel…not Russell Wilson.

Come on Badger fans, Russell isn't exactly an uncommon name to spell. Is it too much to ask to run a basic spell check?

Paul Klee of The Gazette, had a great profile of how faith in God have driven two ex-Badgers on opposite sides of the Super Bowl.  It's a refreshing piece that talks about something other than what happens between the lines, or who's a "thug" or who's getting arrested, etc.

Since national signing day is just a week away, there appears to be some better news in the on-going drama that has been the recruitment of 4-star defensive tackle Craig Evans. According to an article from Tom Mulhern of the Wisconsin State Journal, Evans' high school head coach says Evans will stick with his pledge to the Badgers despite a visit last weekend to Michigan State.

On the basketball front, don't think the Badgers will have the same results tonight when they take on Northwestern. As Jim Polzin of the Wisconsin State Journal points out, the Wildcats have grown up in the past month

Don't forget to join us on Twitter @MTBadgers for coverage of tonight's game against Northwestern. We'll be with you before the game at 8pm CT, television coverage courtesy BTN.
