Beyond the Box Score: Wisconsin 75, American 35

I hope you didn’t panic too much.

Yes, the Badgers had a rough patch shooting, but the shots were there. It would have taken a game long slump to actually lose the game.

Let’s hop into the box score since we don’t have much time before the game tomorrow night against the Ducks.

  • Ben Brust was 4-7 from beyond the arc. If he stays hot, it could lead to a huge tournament run. He looked confident yesterday, so let’s hope he stays that way.
  • American turned the ball over 17 times. Heading into the game, the reports were that American turned the ball over a lot, and thus, were a great match-up for the Badgers. I think it’s safe to say that was correct.
  • Traevon Jackson shot 6-8 and led all scorers in the game with 18. We all know that sometime in this tournament run, Traevon is going to try to take over. It’s who he is and we’ve come to accept it, even though it can lead to a roller coaster of emotions. If he stays hot, he has the personality to lead a team.
  • Jordan Hill, Vitto Brown, Evan Anderson, and Zach Bohannon all got at least two minutes each. Even though it was mop-up duty, that’s something they’ll be able to tell their grand kids.

Tomorrow night will not be nearly as easy, but I have faith in this team. Tip-off should be around 6:40 p.m. but that can change depending on the length on the first game.
