Badgers football not done adding to 2014 class?

Fool me once, shame on me….you know the rest. We all should’ve seen this coming after last season and the late additions to the 2013 class in T.J. Reynard and Andrew Endicot. Could the Badgers be on the verge of adding to the roster for 2014 late in the process?

According to recent reports by our partners at Badger247, that appears to be the case. First, Evan Flood reported that Wisconsin made a conditional offer to former Tennessee commit (who signed and was later released from a NLI) Jerome Dews.

Dews, a former 3-star athlete out of Oxon Hill (Md.) Potomac, needs to have his grades check out at Wisconsin in order for the offer to stand, according to Flood. If so, expect the 6’3″ 205-pound athlete to earn a scholarship at UW.

He is listed as an outside linebacker/wide receiver by 247Sports, and was the No. 75-ranked athlete in the 2014 recruiting cycle. Wisconsin could be looking to add to their wide receiver group with Dews.

Then on Tuesday, Flood reported that Wisconsin made an offer to Florida transfer Marqui Hawkins. He would have been entering his redshirt freshman season for the Gators, but is looking to transfer to continue playing wide receiver after a move to safety this spring.

He is being looked at as a wide receiver, and given the 6’2″, 215-pound frame you could see why the Badgers are interested.

Hawkins would have to sit out this upcoming season per current NCAA transfer rules, but given Wisconsin’s issues at receiver this move would help further boost a questionable group of receivers at best.

These two offers go to show that Wisconsin won’t leave any stone unturned on the recruiting trail, and they are building some solid relationships on the recruiting trail as well. Come next year this time, don’t forget that UW may not be done adding to a class or bringing on a transfer either.
