<![CDATA[From hometown hero to the University of Wisconsin as a walk-on and becoming an instant star is usually as good as it gets for a Wisconsinite. However, on Saturday afternoon former Badger wide receiver Jared Abbrederis added one more check mark to the Wisconsinite dream — Green Bay Packer.

It's a rare sight indeed, as Abbrederis becomes the first Badger ever drafted by current Packers general manager Ted Thompson.

Abbrederis was the 2013 Burlsworth Trophy winner, going to the best player to start his career as a walk-on in college. He ended his career at UW tied for the career-best receptions mark (202), second in receiving yards (3,140) and touchdown receptions (23).

Not only was Abbrederis a deadly weapon in the pass game, he was a special teams ace in the Cardinal and White, as he finished career ranked No. 7 all-time at UW with 4,818 all-purpose yards (291 rushing, 3,140 receiving, 587 punt return, 800 kickoff return).

His 1,083-yard season in 2013 was just the fourth ever by a Badger wide receiver, and he added his second-best touchdown season (7) of his career in his final season.
