Big Ten hockey schedule released, Badgers season schedule complete

Wisconsin hockey’s non-conference schedule for the 2014-15 season has been know for awhile, but on Thursday the Big Ten finally announced the schedule for conference games. With the announcement we now know the full schedule for Badger hockey this upcoming season.

UW won’t open its Big Ten campaign until a series at home against Penn State on 12/05-12/06. However, the Badgers won’t get in to the bulk of conference play until after the winter break.

That’s when Wisconsin will take the road for the first time in conference play, visiting Minnesota for a series that will start on 1/15 or 1/16 and conclude on 1/17.

UW will return the favor with the rival Gophers just two weeks later, hosting Minnesota on the final two days of January. Sandwiched in between the two series’ will be an equally tough test, as Wisconsin will welcome Michigan to the Kohl Center for a series that will start on 1/23 or 1/24.

It’s that three series stretch that will likely go a long way in deciding the Big Ten pecking order, with the three powerhouse programs really separating themselves from the rest of the conference last season.

The Badgers will end the Big Ten season in the same building they started it in, as they will host Ohio State on 3/13 and 3/14 to wrap up conference play.

UW will also test itself with tough non-conference tests against the likes of North Dakota, Denver, Colorado College, Boston University and Ferris State.
