Wisconsin waited awhile to pull the trigger on an offer to 247Sports composite 3-star in-state shooting guard Brevin Pritzl, but it didn’t take Pritzl long to reciprocate on the offer. According to our exclusive recruiting partners at Badger247, Pritzl committed to UW  on Thursday night.

The 6’3″, 175-pound De Pere, Wis. native is the first member of the 2015 class, which is expected to feature as many as four or five scholarship players in it.

Pritzl chose the Badgers over offers from the likes of Creighton, Xavier and Marquette, but the real story was the fact that names like North Carolina, Duke and Michigan were sniffing around and were expected to really be serious contenders in the July evaluation period.

With Pritzl in the fold, Wisconsin could have as many as three in-state products on board in the 2015 class. Attention will now shift to forwards Diamond Stone and Henry Ellenson, as well as out of state products like Jarvis Johnson and Josh Sharma to name a few.

Pritzl, who plays AAU ball for the Wisconsin Playground Warriors, had a monster spring season on the circuit. It led to rumblings of big offers potentially coming, and Wisconsin pulling the trigger on a visit May 13.

As for what Wisconsin is getting, well they are getting a pure sharpshooter. Pritzl can flat out score the ball and reminds some of recently graduated Ben Brust in his ability to get open without having the ball. A great example of this came at the recently completed NY2LASPORTS Spring Extravaganza:

Wisconsin’s early offer and Pritzl’s Badger blood appear to have won out over waiting for bigger offers and his recruitment to play out throughout the fall. As the saying goes, “when you know, you know.”

Now, if only the trifecta of top players from the state can don the cardinal and white of Wisconsin, huh?
