It’s officially 90 days until grills get going, brats hit the grills and beverages are put in coolers. Oh, and the Badgers take on this little team called LSU down in Houston.

Like yesterday, we’re featuring a special teams player on our countdown to that fateful last day in August. So, let’s get right to talking about No. 90, Drew Meyer.

Meyer’s Story So Far:

– Averaged 38.6 yards per punt last season, but averaged over 40 yards per punt in five of 13 contests last season.

– Meyer’s career average is 40.4 yards per punt, which puts him sixth in the all-time rankings for Wisconsin punters.

– His 2012 season set the standard for punters at UW, as he tops the list in single-season punts (80) and punting yardage (3,233).

What to Expect in 2014:

There’s no question that Meyer is the top punter the Badgers have on their roster, but this season is about becoming a bit more consistent in terms of his yardage. Meyer is great at directional punting, and his ability to pin opponents inside the 20 without a touchback (just three last season) is hugely important. He’s shown the leg to go deep as a punter, but it’s now about doing that more consistently when needed.
