Wisconsin has worked hard in the state of Texas over the last few months, upping their game in a state that the previous regime didn’t touch much on. That hard work has begun to pay off, as the Badgers got a commitment from 2015 cornerback Takadrae Williams out of Dallas, TX (South Oak Cliff) on Friday afternoon.
He becomes the Badgers’ seventh overall commit and first in the secondary for the 2015 class. UW stays at No. 37 in the 247sports national rankings and No. 6 in the Big Ten as well with this commitment.
According to the report from Badger247, Williams’ coach confirmed the verbal commitment, who also had offers from Colorado and Louisville. Wisconsin was the first school to offer Williams a scholarship, with Bill Busch acting as Williams’ primary recruiter. Ben Strickland also had a hand in the recruitment of Williams.
Wisconsin offered Williams, and teammate Willie Smith, at the beginning of May and it took just over a month for the commitment to come from the Dallas product.
Before his commitment, Williams was an unrated prospect according to the 247sports composite rankings. However, after his pledge to UW, Williams moved to 3-star status in the composite rankings (wonder how that happened, huh).

His commitment is important for many reasons, the most obvious being that he is a player from the state of Texas and an area that is heavily recruited. However, what is also important to note is Wisconsin also is getting a taller cornerback, something they’ve been emphasizing with their offers in the 2015 and 2016 classes to date.
