Wisconsin had it’s big camp going on this weekend and it has already paid dividends as the Badgers got their third commitment from the state of Texas. Linebacker Chris Orr gave his verbal pledge to the Badgers according to Badger247.
UW moved up to No. 28 nationally and No. 4 in the Big Ten according to 247Sports with the commitment of Orr, who joins fellow inside linebacker Nick Thomas as commitments in the last week.
Orr’s commitment was Wisconsin’s first of a very important weekend and a potentially big commitment down the road as well. The 6’0″, 215-pound linebacker out of DeSoto, Texas could be just the beginning out of the school.
UW is also after teammate Kevin Thomas as a wide receiver. Having Orr commit to the Badgers so quickly can only help the teammates who have already openly discussed playing the game together at the next level.
Orr is ranked as a 2-star prospect and is unranked at his position and in the state of Texas, despite running a 4.6 40-yard dash as an inside linebacker. However, don’t fret as the kid has some impressive tape to his name.
Besides, when was the last time an underrated linebacker didn’t work out at Wisconsin (Chris Borland anyone)?
Wisconsin appears to have jumped hard on a prospect the coaching staff evaluated early on and plucked a talent with SEC schools buzzing around. Arkansas, Baylor and Missouri were also interested in Orr’s game but failed to extend an offer to this date.
Despite the interest from schools closer to home, Orr is 100 committed ($) to Wisconsin according to Evan Flood of Badger247 (our exclusive recruiting partner).
Stay tuned tomorrow and Monday as the Badgers could be in for a few more commitments.
