Many experts believed Wisconsin would eventually land 4-star offensive lineman Sam Madden, and on Sunday those expectations were met. Madden, from Barnegat, NJ, became commitment No. 11 for the class of 2015 according to Badger247.

The 4-star (3-star by the 247sports composite rankings) offensive lineman’s commitment also moved the Badgers to No. 25 in the national rankings by 247Sports. Additionally the Badgers moved up another spot in the Big Ten rankings, coming in at No. 4.

Madden chose the Badgers over a number of big time offers. He had offers from the likes of  Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Miami, South Carolina, Nebraska and others. He also has a connection to Wisconsin’s program, as the cousin of former Badger offensive lineman John Moffitt.

At 6’7″ and 345-pounds, Madden is considered one of the biggest tackle prospects in the class. Obviously his size jumps out, but he also is a nasty offensive lineman and has major potential once he’s around a program that will know what to do with the size he offers.

It’s hard to take a ton away from his highlight film simply because his size overpowers just about any defender he goes against. However, the good things you see include his ability to keep his pad level low and that he finishes blocks (whether 10 yards down field or by putting a defender on the ground). He will need some work on his foot speed at the next level, but he could be exactly what Wisconsin needs with Rob Havenstein graduating after this season.
