Get used to an early week with the Wisconsin Badgers, as they open up fall camp with practice split between two even teams at two different times. Camp opened up at 6:20am on Monday, and reports are already filing in from those media members in attendance.
The winner of the day? All those in attendance appear to be raving about freshman kicker Rafael Gaglainone, along with freshman wide receiver George Rushing.
Quick thoughts from practice: Gaglianone looked good, Shelton played well and Gillins looks much more comfortable @ his 2nd camp. #Badgers

Kicker Rafael Gaglianone looks like the real deal. Big time leg. Hit all his FG's, including 48, would have been good from 55-60. Badgers

Freshman George Rushing also impressed at wide receiver. Still learning, but caught a lot of balls today. #Badgers

Extremely impressed with true freshmen Rafael Gaglianone and George Rushing. Both could play this year. #Badgers

Freshman K Rafael Gaglianone made good first impression with #Badgers. Ball just jumps off his foot. Accurate, too.

However, for those living around Camp Randall right now, it might be a week of adjusting sleeping patterns as AC/DC awoke the neighborhood at 6am, according to Wisconsin State Journal’s Tom Oates:
Can't imagine Camp Randall neighborhood is thrilled to hear AC/DC blasting from the stadium at 6:30 am. #Badgers #earlypractice

While freshmen were getting attention, it appears sophomore Sojourn Shelton is ready to pick up where he left off last year:
Great start to camp for Sojourn Shelton, who had two PBUs and one interception off Stave that he returned for a touchdown #Badgers

It remains to be seen how the quarterback battle will shape up, and reading anything in to Stave coming out with the first group over McEvoy is trying too hard. However, having a pick-six on the first day certainly opens the door for McEvoy this afternoon.
That’s something to really keep an eye on for the second group of players to come out on Monday.
