Wisconsin offered 3-star power forward Charlie Thomas just three weeks ago, and it didn’t take the Washington, D.C. area native long to figure out that the Badgers were the team for him.
After taking an official visit just three weeks ago, Thomas gave his verbal commitment to Wisconsin on Wednesday night per our recruiting partners at Badger247. He joins Top 100 shooting guard Brevin Pritzl and fellow power forward Alex Illikanen as members of the 2015 class.
Thomas had Wisconsin listed along with DePaul and Rutgers as his three finalists before pulling the trigger for the Badgers on Tuesday.
The 6’7″, 240-pound forward comes in as the No. 71-ranked power forward in the 247Sports composite and the No. 8-ranked player in the state of Maryland.
Following his visit earlier this week it was clear the Badgers had the inside track on his commitment, as Thomas told Evan Flood of Badger247 that UW was at the top of his list.
“I would say they’re at the top,” he said. “The players are like a family. They welcomed me. Everybody is so connected. They just made me feel like I was a part of the family.”
Thomas brings some good post moves and a lot of strength to his game, but there are clearly areas where he will need work. It showed even in the limited video out there on him, including this 55 second video from last high school basketball season.

Having big fish like Diamond Stone out there still in the mix for the Badgers, this class could be one of the best according to the rankings we’ve ever seen at UW.
