And now we’ve reached our first Wisconsin-based opponent. It was quite a match-up last year in Green Bay. Let’s take a look at the Phoenix and see if they have what it takes to make it another great game in Madison.
Green Bay visits the Kohl Center on November 19 with an 8 p.m. tip-off.
School: Green Bay Phoenix
Location: Green Bay, Wisconsin
Conference: Horizon Conference
Undergrad Enrollment: 6,700
2013-14 record: (24-7, 14-2 Horizon)
Top returning players: Keifer Sykes (20.3 pts, 4.9 assists); Greg Mays (10.3 pts, 5.2 rebounds); Jordan Fouse (6.5 pts, 7.5 rebounds)
Who’d win in a mascot fight?:A bird made of fire beats most things, a Badger included.
One interesting major: First Nation Studies
One fact to help you win your local trivia night: Green Bay has a nine-hole golf course on campus named Shorewood. The clubhouse manager, Bill Lindmark, currently holds the best round at a score of 29.
Prediction: This should be another great game and honestly, if it were in Green Bay, I’d have trouble picking the Badgers. Sykes is back and he could be one of the best players in the country. He tore apart the Badgers last year, so hopefully Bo has that figured out. The Phoenix are predicted to be runaway champions in the Horizon League, but they fall just short in Madison as the Badgers move to 3-0.
