Wisconsin has done a miraculous job of keeping its 2015 class together after Gary Andersen left and the Badgers searched for a new head coach. As Paul Chryst was quickly hired, the 2015 class continued to stay committed to Wisconsin, including prized dual-threat QB Austin Kafentzis.
He won’t be the only quarterback in this class either, as our recruiting partners at Badger247 are reporting that former Pitt commit Alex Hornibrook (Malvern, PA; Malvern Prep) will is joining the Badgers 2015 class. Hornibrook is the No. 55-ranked pro-style quarterback in the 2015 class according to the 247Sports composite rankings.
It appears his relationship with Chryst and offensive coordinator Joe Rudolph were influential in his recruitment overall and his decision to flip to the Badgers in the end.
No doubt the Badgers quarterback stable will be a crowded one in 2015, with D.J. Gillins coming in to his redshirt freshman year, Bart Houston entering his junior season and Joel Stave as a senior. It remains to be seen if Tanner McEvoy will stay at quarterback or make the move back to safety on a permanent basis.
According to the Badger247 report, Hornibrook threw for 2,156 yards and 26 touchdowns, while completing 64 percent of his passes in 2014. He comes to the Badgers as the school record holder in career touchdown passes, single-season yardage and career passing yards.
Here is film from Hornibrook for you to catch up on:
The Badgers now have 26 members of their 2015 recruiting class, and adding Hornibrook didn’t change the team rankings much. UW remains the No. 27-ranked class in the country per the 247 Team composite rankings and No. 3 in the Big Ten still.
