It took a whole new staff, but head coach Paul Chryst and his group finally looked to the state of Wisconsin as a priority on the recruiting trail. Over the weekend the Badgers put out a few more offers to in-state prospects and one of the two full scholarship offers went out to Green Bay (Bay Port) native Alec Ingold.
On Tuesday, Ingold jumped on the new offer according to our recruiting partners at Badger247. He makes commitment No. 25 for the Badgers as they head towards national signing day. Additionally, he becomes the fourth member of the class to come from the Badger state — joining friend and offensive lineman Jon Dietzen, defensive end David Pfaff and athlete Zack Baun.
The two-way star for the Pirates wasn’t offered a scholarship under previous head coach Gary Andersen, but the new staff saw fit to offer the reigning state Player of the Year. It took just a few days, but Ingold chose the offer from the in-state school over the opportunity to continue playing quarterback at the college level.

Ingold was recruited to Northern Illinois as a quarterback and committed to them after an offer never came from Wisconsin over the summer. Wisconsin is recruiting him as a potential outside linebacker and at 6-2, 220 pounds it would be easy to see why that position would be a fit for him.
While at Bay Port Ingold was 87-of-142 (61 percent) passing for 1,384 yards, 16 touchdowns and three interceptions. He was third in the state in rushing with 2,324 yards, averaging 10.2 yards per carry, with 29 touchdowns.
The Badgers won’t be getting a player without knowledge of the linebacker position though, as Ingold spent time there in both his sophomore and senior seasons. However, injuries and importance on the offensive end of the things limited his time on that side of the ball this past season.

Wisconsin stays at No. 28 in the national rankings and is No. 4 in the Big Ten with Ingold’s commitment.
