We all know the world of college football recruiting keeps getting more ridiculous by the year, but you can bet the Wisconsin Badgers aren’t going to go as crazy as the rest of the folks in the CFB world. After all, UW isn’t offering 8th grad prospects (thanks LSU).
However, Wisconsin head coach Paul Chryst isn’t afraid to pull the trigger on an offer to a freshman in high school apparently.
On Tuesday, Badger247’s Evan Flood reported that UW has offered 2018 safety Anthony Lytton out of Upper Marlboro (Md.) Wise high school.
Just how quick were the Badgers to identify the freshman’s talents? They are the first program to offer him a scholarship.
Lytton is a 5-11, 170-pound safety and watching the film out there on him, it’s easy to see why the Badgers have offered after just one season in high school football.
The tape shows a kid with great awareness, vision and most importantly for a safety — RANGE. Most impressive is the ability to see him stick out immediately on the tape without having a highlight put on him.
While the Badgers were the first to pull the trigger on an offer for Lytton, you can bet they aren’t going to be alone on the offer list for long. He is definitely one player to keep an eye out for in the future.
