The Wisconsin Badgers have missed on a number of the top college basketball prospects out of their home state, with Sam Dekker being a notable exception. However, that is changing thanks to the combination of winning and style.
No more evidence exists of that than the news broke by our recruiting partners at Badger247. They announced the state of Wisconsin’s top ranked player, Kobe King, gave his verbal commitment to the Badgers on Wednesday night.

King, a product of La Crosse (Central), Wis. was high on the Badgers throughout his recruitment and decided to end it early, rather than let the whole Bo Ryan will he, won’t he saga play out. He was on record saying that the situation at coach had no bering on his choice, as the whole package at Wisconsin was what he was looking at.
That proved true, as King committed without knowing exactly what would happen over the next two years before he could step foot on the Badgers campus.
The 6-3, 175-pound wing has a ton of promise and had received major offers from both Marquette and Iowa State already. King also began blowing up this summer on the AAU circuit, with other high major programs giving him a look.
Most interestingly for the Badgers, is that they locked down the No. 1 player in the sate in a year where there is a lot of attention on the talent in Wisconsin that could go to the next level.
He is the first recruit to commit to the Badgers in the 2017 class, and is the No. 16-ranked shooting guard and the No. 78-ranked player in the country.
Wisconsin is now ranked No. 6 in the country and No. 2 in the Big Ten recruiting rankings.
