It is just over a week until the Wisconsin Badgers officially have their 2016 recruiting class in the fold, however it has already begun to focus on the 2017 class as well.
This past weekend Wisconsin hosted four top priority in-state recruits for the 2017 class, and a few left with offers from the Badgers.
One of those players leaving with an offer was De Pere (Wis.) offensive lineman Aaron Vopal. It took just one day to ponder what he wanted to do, but the in-state product decided to commit to Wisconsin on Monday afternoon.
Proud to say that I'm committing to the University of Wisconsin! Excited to be a Badger! #OnWisconsin pic.twitter.com/mlAvtwInbb

However, Vopal won’t come to the Badgers as an offensive lineman, instead he will switch the defensive side of the football per our recruiting partners at Badger247. He also is the first defensive recruit to commit in the 2017 class.
The 6-foot-7, 250-pound junior brings a lot of athleticism for his size and could be a major sleeper for the future along the defensive line.
Wisconsin has two commitments in 2017, with the first coming from offensive lineman and Badger legacy Kayden Lyles.
Vopal has not been listed in the 2017 player rankings just yet, but Lyles is a 4-star recruit and Wisconsin sits 37th in the early 247Sports national team rankings along with seventh in the Big Ten team rankings at this point.
