You stick with him and the decision pays off. He steadies the ship and gives you good defense and adequate enough offense not to completely kill the team.
Your faith is rewarded as Hernandez keeps the team in the race until close to the end, and you finish in third place. At the end of the season, Sandy Alderson comes to your office and tells you that he was glad he trusted you. “I’m so happy I have a manager in place who understands how to deal with people and personalities. And if it were up to me, you’d be manager of the year.”
