Statuesque

hes-coming-1

The Pittsburgh Penguins unveiled their tribute to Stanley Cup hero Mario Lemieux today. What made the statue interesting was the other participants in it.

Who were the two poor souls that are forever bronzed with Lemieux? That would be Jeff Norton and Rich Pilon, formerly of the New York Islanders.

Not often you see a statue of a legend feature opponents that he made look silly. But why is this important to you?

Because you know damn well that when they build the Larry Jones statue in Atlanta, they’re going to incorporate this idea and have a statue of an opposing pitcher 60 feet six inches away. And you know it’s going to be a Met. And when you look up the pitcher he victimized most … sure enough it’s a New York Met. And you know damn well what this means …

It means that Steve Trachsel will most likely have a statue somewhere before Tom Seaver does. How does this make you feel?
