Shit Happens

On this Memorial Day, I was getting ready for my girlfriend’s barbecue. I was listening to the game’s first seven innings on 710 WOR. I left for the E train from my Chelsea apartment. We had a 2-0 lead after Jeurys Familia stuck out Andrew McCutchen. My mistake was trusting in our bullpen and offense to give us two runs, thinking we could solidify a win. WRONG! I get off the train and somehow the Mets lose 5-3. I look on my MLB At Bat app to see what the heck happened. I was not surprised, it was Jose Valverde. Not once, but twice! He gave up the tying run in the eighth and three more in the ninth. My first reaction was “this guy has to go! like right now.” I go to express my emotion on twitter to find out the good news from a buddy of mine:

//platform.twitter.com/widgets.jsIn 21 games, Valverde had a 5.66 ERA. Vic Black will replace him on the roster. This guy should have been gone since the Raul Ibañez home run. On the other hand, for Mr. Hudgens I saw this coming from a mile away. The Mets were ranked 14th in the National League in slugging percentage and 12th in batting average. The only time we can score runs if we are playing in Denver or the Bronx. Then, he has the audacity to blame us for booing! Then you complain about Keith Hernandez criticizing the Mets hitting philosophy. I think this philosophy is mierda(crap). Keith and I can agree it has not worked. Hudgens had to go. Mets minor league coordinator, Lamar Johnson will replace him as hitting coach. This is a man I am not too familiar with, but then again when Rick Peterson was fired, I had no clue who Dan Warthen was either. Maybe that’s because I was young. This is who I thought Dan Warthen was:

After Valverde and Hudgens were let go, Terry Collins was asked to share his reaction.

I think I can speak for all Mets fan by saying a managerial change could be looming if our team doesn’t shape up.
