Lagares Who?

With Juan Lagares heading to the DL for the second time this season, Matt den Dekker was recalled from Las Vegas a day after he was sent down. Starting in Lagares’s place, den Dekker robbed Ryan Howard of his third home run in three games. Later on in the 3rd, he gunned down Reid Brignac from tying the game at one run apiece. Although, den Dekker only went 1-5 at the plate, he had quite a day out in center field. We all knew den Dekker had these qualities. Remember, it was den Dekker who was supposed to be called up last season instead of Lagares when the Collin Cowgill/Rick Ankiel experiments failed. However, den Dekker suffered a broken wrist. This led to the rise of Juan Lagares. Yes, den Dekker had a great game defensively, but Lagares can do the same. He also has a much stronger arm. I don’t know if den Dekker can hit in the big league yet. Lagares has proven to be very productive hitter in clutch situations, especially with 2-outs and RISP. I know one of them will be dealt somehow. Lagares has made a vast improvement at the plate from last year. That shows me heart and determination. I like that in a player, but with this team, he will be dealt for a veteran arm or bat that has a year left in him. Lagares will become another Carlos Gomez. Yes, yes the no-hitter was nice, but that was it. I want to witness a ticker-tape parade with this team (I can only dream.)Lagares Who?

Nevertheless, the Mets took four out of five from the Phillies. They scored 11 runs, 6 of which came from Wilmer Flores. Flores put the icing on the cake after a 9th inning 4-run home run (I know it sounds weird too.) He received the game ball in my book.

I just hope they can keep swinging like this in Chicago. On that note I will leave you with whatever this is:
