It was a sweet homecoming for former Mets farmhand Scott Kazmir, who 10 years ago was traded to the then Tampa Bay Devil Rays for the infamous Victor Zambrano. I say sweet because the game began and ended with free ice cream! Yes free! Courtesy of my good friends at Good Humor.
I woke up this morning knowing I was going to see Scott’s first game against the team who drafted him. I found out about the ice cream because I had the news on. I was watching FOX 5’s Good Day New York, only to see Anchor, Greg Kelly do this:

After that I knew today was going to be a good day and it was. The Mets hit four bombas this evening. Curtis Granderson started the parade with a two-run shot in the 2nd inning, followed by a solo shot by none other then Chris Young. Just when his days were numbered to two games, he hits two solo shots. (He hit another later in the game.) We also welcomed back Travis d’Arnaud back to the majors. After the back-to-back homers, he stuck out badly. I was doing the play-by-play from section 514 in the promenade level and was bashing him. He shut me up in his next at bat, which he sent the ball back to Las Vegas with a three-run bomb. I had my “hit towel” handy. I was prepared. I have a feeling it going catch on. I like it, even though I was the only fan with my towel.
Bartolo Colon was sensational against his former club. Colon and Young got their revenge. More so for Colon, who pitched eight solid innings, stuck out eight and even had a hit. (I got to see a Colon base-hit, oh joy!)

Bartolo Colon has a longer hitting streak going than Chris Young. — Big Mets Fan (@bigmetsfan1) June 25, 2014
Will the Mets do this again this season? Probably not. I don’t mean to be the party pooper, but be realistic. This team can’t hit! Three hitters can’t make up the entire offense. You need all nine or eight and 1/4 if Colon is on the hill. I can only hope that this is the start of something, that why this I am not washing this towel anytime soon. It has hits in it!
I have my #HitTowel by my side, while I do play-by-play from section 514. #MySpot #Mets @Metstradamus @MetsBooth pic.twitter.com/6RWRDme0AG
