It was all fun and dandy until the bottom of the eighth. The Mets committed three errors in the eighth inning. What was a two-run lead turned into a 5-3 loss to the Braves. Jeurys Familia came in to set up after a solid start from Zack Wheeler, minus the five walks. With a 3-1 lead, Familia gave up back-to-back singles to Justin Upton and Jason Heyward. Then Chris Johnson hit a grounder that should have been a double-play back to the mound. Familia rushed the throw to second and Ruben Tejada couldn’t come up with it as it bounced, loading the bases. Tommy La Stella hit a shot up the middle that Juan Lagares couldn’t handle in center field as two runs scored to tie the game at three. The final error came on a high bouncer to Eric Campbell, who could not field it cleanly. This allowed the go ahead run to score.

Three errors in 20 minutes and Wheeler walks five, what’s next? Remember when the team hit four home runs, pitched well and played great defense? Why do you taunt me with your darkness? Any glimpse of hope is quickly ripped out away.
