I wrote this last Tuesday, when the Rockies gave Michael Cuddyer a qualifying offer, and signing him then seemed like a buried idea … basically saying that the Rockies did the Mets a favor killing the idea … seemingly.
Then I wrote this last night, speculating that the Mets might not have a left fielder until January or February, and that we should all be patient.
Then this all happens in the last 30 minutes:
Welcome to New York @mcuddy3! We’ve signed outfielder Michael Cuddyer to a two-year contract. #Mets pic.twitter.com/1pwpJzESmB

According to a source, the Mets are indeed doing their due diligence. Have checked with Rockies on shortstop Troy Tulowitzki. — Marc Carig (@MarcCarig) November 10, 2014

You have to wonder if the Cuddyer “qualifying offer” was secretly a sign-and-trade with a draft pick attached. #Mets#Cuddyer

Baseball makes sense in its nonsense.
If you click the first link I gave you, you can get an idea about whether I think this is a good move or not. This combined with a potential Troy Tulowitzki trade to me would be very, very risky. I’ll give them points for having some cajones if there is another, bigger shoe to drop. But if it doesn’t … hey, David Wright gets to hang out with his friend for two years.
