Per Stephen Curry, Draymond Green Just Being Competitive In His Back-And-Forth With Doc Rivers

The Golden State Warriors took care of their Pacific Division rival Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday with a 106-98 victory that featured plenty of excitement.

After the final buzzer sounded, more entertainment awaited when during his post game interview, Draymond Green was bumped by Clippers forward, Dahntay Jones.

https://platform.vine.co/static/scripts/embed.jsThe bump ended up costing Jones a check made out to the NBA for a whopping $10,000. After the fine was announced, coach Steve Kerr said, “He didn’t get his money’s worth.”

Clippers head coach Doc Rivers seemed a bit annoyed at how Green reacted to the situation.

“I told Dahntay, ‘You’ve got to be careful, that was too hard,’” Rivers said. “I guess that tough guy in Golden State, the bump was too hard for him, clearly the way he reacted. My goodness.”

When Green appeared on KNBR and was asked about the incident he had three words: “Cool story, Glenn,” referring to the coaches first name.

“I don’t have no reason to worry about what Glenn has to say. Why would I worry about what Glenn has to say?” Green went on to say.

On Wednesday, Clippers beat writer Ben Bolch of the Los Angeles Times reported Rivers’ response to Green:

Rivers, who was given the nickname Doc by former Marquette assistant coach Rick Majerus at a basketball camp because he was wearing a T-shirt bearing the likeness of Julius Erving, the famed Dr. J., said the only people who called him Glenn were his mother and legendary coach Pat Riley, when they were mad at him.
.
“I guess Draymond is now in that same category,” Rivers said, laughing.

So what did Stephen Curry think about all of the commotion?

“That stuff is kind of more comical than anything. It’s just a bunch of back and forth and who has the best one-liners,” Curry said at shootaround Wednesday, “When you have a guy like that that speaks what’s on his mind, you appreciate that, and he backs it up by how he plays, too, so it’s not just talk…On the court it’s all about business.”

Curry also spoke about Green’s competitiveness on the court which makes him invaluable to this team.

“He just has a competitiveness about him that speaks volumes of kind of overcoming a lot,” Curry said at morning shootaround today, “Not having a set position when he came into the league, being a second-round draft pick.

“He found a way to impact this team and it set him up for a long career in the NBA. It’s just the competitiveness about him that he doesn’t take no for an answer and brings it every night.”

“Trying to chase a championship!!!! The story and most important thing of my life!!!! Let’s get it Dubs #whynot,” tweeted Green before tonight’s game.
