After last nights big win over the Pelicans, Golden State Warriors players had the playoffs on their minds. Here’s what all the talk was about.
Leandro Barbosa, who knows the Warriors could meet the Pelicans in the first round and knew the importance of the game they just played, was asked by Tim Roye on KNBR about his abundant playoff experience.
“I’ve been telling all the guys in the practice facility, and game time,” Barbosa said. “Right now we don’t have that many games left, so I think we we have to lock in. It’s almost the playoffs, no matter whoever we play we gotta be really serious. On the execution from the offensive standpoint, do a better job on the defense, The playoffs is going to be different than this.”
After a strong performance, Harrison Barnes foreshadowed a bit on what the Warriors could expect to see.
“We’re trying to just gear up for the playoffs right now, moving the ball, pass, making the extra play,” he said. “Especially when they trap Steph (Curry). That’s what we’re gonna need to do during the playoffs, so we’re just trying to get better at that.”
“It’s about us now,” said Draymond Green after beating a severely depleted Pelicans squad, especially missing their MVP-caliber power forward Anthony Davis. “Fifteen games left in the season, it’s about getting into a groove, executing defensively and offensively, trying to roll into the playoffs. It’s not really about who they put out there on the floor or who anybody puts out there on the floor. It’s aboutus trying to get our rhythm and get our flow going into the playoffs. I think we’re in that stage, so I think it’s time to start planning for the next step.
“It doesn’t matter, at the end of the day we play whoever we’re going to play,” Green said, downplaying any standings-watching. “That’s not going to change us a bit. There’s a little log jam right there, it is what it is. I pay attention to the NBA, so I know what’s going on, but, it’s not like we have a preference. Whoever’s there that’s who we play. Just have to take care of business no matter who it is.”
