- Yesterday’s game in KC was rained out and will be made-up as part of a doubleheader today with Sean O’Sullivan getting bumped to the second game for his start.
- Steve Bisheff thinks the Angels should try and extend Bobby Abreu now before he hits free agency this winter. This is a nice idea in theory except that the Angels have a well established policy of not talking contract in the middle of a season.
- The OC Register looks like they want to get the jump on calling the time of death on Vladimir Guerrero’s career. Normally I would call this doom-mongering, but they given how brittle Vlad has been the last few years, they might just be right. If it isn’t the end of his overall career, I would not be at all shocked if we were witnessing the final months of Guerrero’s Angels tenure.
- INJURY UPDATE: Mike Scioscia still doesn’t think that Juan Rivera will need to go to the DL to heal up his hamstring, but doesn’t see him playing before Wednesday. Also, Torii Hunter has started light conditioning drills which puts him on track for an early-August return.
