5. If Brandon Wood is really getting on track, the Angels and their fans are all going to be very happy. Not only do the Angels need him to get it going, but you can’t help but root for the kid. He struggled so much to start the year, but you could tell he wanted to succeed so badly and that every time he made an out it was eating him up inside.
4. Who the hell is Mitch Talbot? He has a great line so far this year, but has managed just six strikeouts in twenty innings of work. That doesn’t strike me as a great recipe for success in the big leagues. Hopefully the Angels can be the ones to prove he is a fluke.
3. Alright, Saundo, time to get yourself back on track. That 2.2 inning outing against the Tigers was pretty hard to stomach, but this Indian line-up is a much better match for you since many of their best hitters are left-handed. If you can’t at least turn in a decent start, I really don’t know what to do with you.
2. The Angel bullpen could be a big problem again tonight. Kevin Jepsen and Fernando Rodney aren’t likely to be available since both have worked the last two games and three of the last four as well. That means Jason Bulger, Scot Shields and maybe Matt Palmer are going to be tasked with bridging the gap to Brian Fuentes and that thought definitely scares me.
1. Not only do the Angels need to figure out how to slow down Shin-Soo Choo, but they must also find a way to contain Austin Kearns after his three-hit night last night. That definitely isn’t a sentence I ever thought I would have to write.
