Alright, Angels, let’s get this series started on the good foot.
This is the perfect chance for the Angels to get themselves on a real roll. They finally busted out of their slump by winning the series against the Braves and they even showed some signs of life offensively. Now, they get to avenge their recent sweep at the hand of the A’s, who come in limping badly after being swept themselves by the Giants and losing two of their rotation members to the DL.
If they want to get on that roll, they have to start tonight. Not only must they do that simply to keep momentum going, but to try and build up some momentum for Jered Weaver who has seen his season start slowly heading south since his torrid beginning of the season.
Monkey See, Monkey Do – Do hope the Angels can get over their case of the Mondays. Did you know they’ve only won once on a Monday this season? They are 1-5 on Mondays and that lone win came at home against the Athletics, so if they are going to stick to this odd calendar-based trend, they picked the right team and locale.
Monkey See, Monkey Don’t – Don’t forget to be thankful that we finally got rid of Brian Fuentes. As bad as the Angel pen has been, Fuentes is solely responsible for the A’s recent slide as he took the loss in all of his last three appearances. That gives him six losses on the season versus just one win and nine saves. So, yeah, it could be worse.
The Monkey’s Bananas Prediction of the Game: Weaver finally finds a cure to his recent struggles and returns to ace form by going the distance in a five-hit shutout of the A’s.
