The April 13th, 2012 edition of daily news for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim including Scott Downs needs an MRI on his ankle, Albert Pujols not concerned about his slow start, Torii Hunter expected to find plenty of interest once he becomes a free agent and much more…
The Story: Scott Downs will undergo an MRI on his ankle even though X-rays revealed only a contusion.
The Monkey Says: Downs is still on crutches and all the chatter seems to be certain that he is going to land on the disabled list. That makes sense, because watching the injury in slo-mo reveals just how awful the injury was.
The Story: Albert Pujols is not concerned about his slow start.
The Monkey Says: After six games nobody should be concerned about anything, except for the Bullpen of Perpetual Sorrow. If Pujols still is scuffling at the end of the month, only then should we even begin to start worrying about him and even then we might want to give the best hitter of our generation the benefit of the doubt.
The Monkey Says: I hope that’s true, but I’m not sure it is. Veteran outfielders had a hell of a time finding jobs this last off-season, though Torii can actually still play the field better than the likes of Johnny Damon and Raul Ibanez. Olney is also assuming that Hunter is going to hit reasonably well this season, which is untrue thus far.
The Story: Peter Bourjos’ inside-the-park homer versus Bengie Molina’s triple. Guess who was faster.
The Monkey Says: I forgot how hilarious it was to watch Bengie run.
The Monkey Says: I love this. I love this so much. Too bad nobody in Angels stadium operations will pay any attention to it.
