Halo Headlines: Keith Law's top ten Angels prospects, Mike Trout is now an answer on Jeopardy

The February 7th, 2013 edition of daily news for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim including Keith Law's top ten Angels prospects, Mike Trout is now an answer on Jeopardy and much more…

The Story: Keith Law unveiled his top ten Angels prospects.

The Monkey Says: The most notable part is that he is so high on Taylor Lindsey. I like Lindsey a lot too, but rating him second seems too high, unless that is more of a function of him being down on Maronde and Cron, but that wasn't what Law's comments suggest.

The Story: Mike Trout was recently a question to an answer on Jeopardy.

The Monkey Says: I didn't see the show, but my understanding is that none of the contestants even buzzed in. Clearly they must be the sorts who are still impressed by RBIs.

The Story: A look at Alberto Callaspo and how it can sometimes take time for a player to find a position.

The Monkey Says: I think Callaspo was a victim of old school thinking where guys needed to fit a certain physical and offensive profile to play a certain position. He has turned into an excellent defensive third baseman, but he just doesn't hit like a standard third baseman, which I think is why so many fans don't think very highly of him. However, I don't really think the Martin Prado comparison is a good one as Prado not only has more power but also has shown an ability to maintain a high average, which Alberto definitely has not.

The Story: The core values of the LA Angels.

The Monkey Says: Is Albert Pujols really the cornerstone of the franchise? I kind of don't think he is. That isn't even his down season coming into effect, I just think that Trout is not only better but more important because he is the catalyst for the entire offense and a much more valuable defender.

The Story: Previewing the Angels 2013 season as they look to avoid a fourth consecutive disappointing season.

The Monkey Says: Have they really disappointed three years in a row? I know the bar is set high for them now, but I know most Angels fans weren't expecting big things from the 2010 or 2011 teams, especially the 2011 team. There is no doubt though that this year it is playoffs or bust and even just making the playoffs may still not be enough.

The Story: Perusing the walk-up music of some of the Angels.

The Monkey Says: I hope you like reggaeton and salsa music.

The Story: Rod Carew ranks as the eighth-best Angels acquisition of all time.

The Monkey Says: I hate that it is now impossible to write about Carew without thinking of the Adam Sandler Hanukkah song.
