Halo Headlines: Madson throws 20 pitch from a mound, C.J. Wilson talks politics, PEDs and Star Wars

The March 12th, 2013 edition of daily news for the Los Angeles Angels including Madson throws 20 pitch from a mound, C.J. Wilson talks politics, PEDs and Star Wars and much more…

The Story: Ryan Madson threw a half-speed 20-pitch bullpen session on Monday.

The Monkey Says: That doesn't sound like much, but it is progress and that's really all the Angels can ask for at this point. He will throw again on Thursday and sounds as if he is confident he will be able to sneak in at least one or two Cactus League appearances.

The Story: C.J. Wilson talks about a wide range of topics spanning from politics to PEDs to Star Wars.

The Monkey Says: This is a pretty candid interview for Wilson and I can't say it is going to help his reputation as a guy who comes off as a douche, although I'd call him more of an intellectual elitist after reading this and I'm not sure that is necessarily a bad thing to call someone.

The Story: Tommy Hanson isn't concerned about his cynics.

The Monkey Says: Well, I am. It is still early in the spring, but Hanson hasn't had much in the way of results yet. Him saying he feels "100 times better" is nice and all, but it is little consolation until we actually seem him perform 100 times better.

The Story: Hank Conger is not letting his throwing woes hurt his confidence.

The Monkey Says: Umm, good? Conger has been a disaster throwing the ball this spring and at some point it is going to potentially cost him his roster spot. It is nice to hear him talking confidently because when he was struggling with his throws earlier in his Angel career, he sounded like an eight-year old boy who just watched his dog died.

The Story: Kaleb Cowart is the #75 prospect on the Fangraphs top 100 prospect list.

The Monkey Says: Are we done with this yet? I mean, this has to be the last of the lists, right? Oh, execpt for one. The MWAH finishes up this week with our top two prospects, so be sure to check that out if you don't yet have prospect fatigue.

The Story: Predicting that Peter Bourjos will have a better year than MIchael Bourn.

The Monkey Says: An interesting wager for sure, but I don't think I would be quite so bold, and I am a major proponent of Bourjos.
