The March 19th, 2013 edition of daily news for the Los Angeles Angels including Snyder could replace Conger, predictions about Trout and much more…
The Monkey Says: I wrote yesterday that I think Snyder has the edge, which is really saying something because he is at best an average defender and doesn't look like he can hit anymore. Conger's throwing problems are just to ugly right now for him to be on a big league roster, so he pretty much has two weeks to fix those issues and get back in the team's good graces.
The Story: Eight predictions about Mike Trout in 2013.
The Monkey Says: I really hope he the Twitter punctuation thing comes in on that 40% side. Incredibly annoying.
The Story: Picking a captain for every team in baseball.
The Monkey Says: Wait! Make your pick before you read the article. OK, now click and I'm guessing very few of you picked Weaver. To me, it has to be Pujols even if he is on the decline, simply because of his stature in the game. Weaver hardly seems like a leader to me and where he was born shouldn't matter. I'd like to pick Trout, I just can't justify doing so at his age.
The Story: Ranking the rotations in the AL West.
The Monkey Says: Not gonna lie, kind of surprised the Halos beat out the M's.
The Story: The closer job is a position battle to watch in Anaheim.
The Monkey Says: Ah, yes, very clever. But I would go so far as to extrapolate the battle out passed when Madson returns to include Burnett or Downs in the mix. I'm a little nervous about Frieri still and have real doubts about Madson being effective anytime before the All-Star break. While I don't think it is likely, I would also not be surprised if on June 1st there is some sort of closer committee in place.
The Story: Do the Angels have the best lineup in baseball?
The Monkey Says: Maybe, but that would probably require Bourjos to be decent and for Trumbo to bounce back from his wretched second half. Let's hope this proves true because that seems to be what Dipoto is banking on with the less than impressive rotation he put together.
