The May 7th, 2013 edition of daily news for the Los Angeles Angels including Scioscia has no plans to quit, Lowe activated, Brasier demoted and much more…
The Story: Mike Scioscia has no plans to quit.
The Monkey Says: I don't blame him. That isn't how he operates. I still think that letting him go is the only way to salvage the season though, so I guess Dipoto and Moreno will have to be the ones to do the dirty deed.
The Story: The Angels activated Mark Lowe from the DL and sent Ryan Brasier back to Triple-A.
The Monkey Says: Lowe probably won't help much, but he is still better than Brasier. Every little bit helps, I guess.
The Story: Sean Burnett's examination showed no major damage.
The Monkey Says: But he still took the needle, so he clearly isn't feeling real great. There is no timetable for his return.
The Story: The Angels stink but it isn't Mike Scioscia's fault.
The Monkey Says: It is a little bit his fault. He has made some very bad strategic decisions this year and he has been unable to get the team to loosen up. A lot of that came from the team having bad luck with injuries and a poorly constructed pitching staff, but it is on Scioscia to deal with that and he hasn't. Someone else needs to take a crack at it if the Halos still hope to reach the post-season.
The Monkey Says: I assure you I will not say "Oh, oh, OK." I also assure you some expletives will be involved.
The Story: Josh Hamilton has been the worst free agent signing so far from this last off-season.
The Monkey Says: Oh, oh, OK.
The Story: A Texas beat writer once again tries to stick it to Josh Hamilton for his "Baseball Town" comment.
The Monkey Says: Good one, Justice! Not to crap on your point, but it is worth noting that the Rangers have seen their attendance actually fall by over 5,000 per game from last year. So, um, yeah. How about you just let it go?
The Monkey Says: I might buy another house just so I can bet my house on each of those sweet lines.
The Story: The latest edition of Albert Pujols playing in pain.
The Monkey Says: I really hate that teams have now figured out he can't run and are playing on the outfield grass now. It was so much better when front offices and coaching staffs were stupid and uninformed.
The Story: Tommy Hanson could be a potential trade piece at the deadline.
The Monkey Says: I'm trying real hard to not think about any of that until June. REAL hard.
The Story: Why the Angels still have non-zero odds at making the playoffs.
The Monkey Says: The Tigers and Cardinals were both 11-20 and made the playoffs while the A's were 10-21 in 2012 and they all made the post-season by winning 88 or more games. This is why we shouldn't give up hope yet but should give up on trying to let Scioscia fix this. They need to pull out all the stops right now because it is dangerously close to being too late.
The Story: A look at the Mike Trout fish hats being given away at the June 18th game.
The Monkey Says: This is why the rest of the world hates America.
The Story: Josh Hamilton's April isn't the worst single month in Angel history, but it is very close.
The Monkey Says: How Jeff Mathis isn't on that list is beyond me.
