The October 8th, 2013 edition of daily news for the Los Angeles Angels including Trout nominated for Hank Aaron Award, the sins of Arte Moreno and much more…
The Story: Mike Trout is the Angels' nominee for the Hank Aaron Award.
The Monkey Says: This is some cockamamee award for the best offensive player as voted on by fans and a group of Hall of Fame players. In otherwords, RBIs shall rule the day, which translates to Miguel Cabrera winning the award. Although I am hoping that some endeavorous programmer out there sets up a bot and sends 20 million votes to WIll Venable.
The Story: The three sins of Arte Moreno.
The Monkey Says: I've said it before and I'll say it again, passing on Adrian Beltre is the single most damaging decision this organization has made in the 21st century. Not only did it cost them Beltre and lead them into the ill-fated Wells trade, it let Beltre go to the rival that wrested control of the AL West from them. The Hamilton decision is a close second, or at least it will be if Hamilton doesn't rebound. The Pujols contract will hurt ofr a long time, but at the time it was made, the Angels had the ability to absorb that hit. Adding Hamilton's big contract on top of that removed their financial flexibility.
The Story: A review of the 2013 pre-season top 50 hitting prospects.
The Monkey Says: It is a slow news day, so here is a reminder of what a disaster 2013 was for Kaleb Cowart. Enjoy.
