The Story: The Diamondbacks have interest in Mark Trumbo.
The Monkey Says: The D'Backs have all kind of pitching available, so there could be a match there, though it would leave the Halos having to find a replacement at DH. That doesn't mean they shouldn't do it, just that it might explain their reluctance. Most people will probably want Skaggs in return for Trumbo, but Trevor Cahill seems like a more likely return given Trumbo's value.
The Story: Previewing the Angels as they head into the Winter Meetings.
The Monkey Says: With all the activity of the last two weeks, the WInter Meetings should be a real spectacle as teams figure to be falling all over each other to make moves. One would figure that the Angels have to emerge from the meetings with at least one new starting pitcher.

The Monkey Says: Tell us something we don't know. I still think Arte Moreno will pay the luxury tax if the right big move comes along, I'm just not sure what that is, outside of signing Masahiro Tanaka.

The Monkey Says: Gosh, you think there might be a trend here? It is really hard to imagine both Kendrick and Trumbo remaining Angels after this week.
The Story: The Royals and Yankees are competing for Omar Infante.
The Monkey Says: The loser should immediately become the most likely destination for Howie Kendrick. However, the Royals have kicked the tires on Mark Ellis, so they might just go with him as a cheaper option. As for the Yankees, they clearly aren't in "cheaper option" mode, but they don't really have the pitching the Angels would want unless they were suddenly willing to give up Ivan Nova.
The Story: A look at the Angels' bench options in 2014.
The Monkey Says: If they don't trade Kendrick or Trumbo, the bench is pretty much set. However, if Kendrick goes, they'd be wise to sign a veteran utility infielder in case Green tanks or Freese get hurts. It would also be a good idea to get a right-handed bat with some pop to face tough lefties in place of Hamilton and Calhoun on occasion.
