The Monkey Says: We know now that it won't be Garza who signed with the Brewers for four years and $52 million. That's not a bad average annual value, but it was enough to push the Angels into the luxury tax. It also was probably more years than they wanted to give to a guy with a history of both shoulder and elbow problems. Time to start bracing yourself for a Bronson Arroyo signing.
The Story: Baseball America released their top 10 Angels prospect list.
The Monkey Says: They are a little high on Zach Borenstein and R.J. Alvarez, but nothing else here is unusual. That is what happens with such a shallow farm system.
The Monkey Says: I don't buy that for a second. The Halos might have financial wiggle room, but they don't have the kind of prospects required to net a top pitcher like that. Even if they did, they may not be willing to give up anymore of their farm system at this point.

The Monkey Says: The only real surprise was seeing Ricardo Sanchez sneak onto the list. There are plenty of glowing things being said about the kid, but he ultimately is just a kid, literally.

Simers who somehow turns the whole article to be all about him and his grudge against the LA Times with a veiled shot at Arte Moreno. Heaven forbid Simers use the piece to expound upon the virtues of CHOC and try to entice others to help the effort.
