Halo Headlines: Hamilton reduces role of accountability partner, Taylor Lindsey makes Baseball America Top 100

The February 21st, 2014 edition of daily news for the Los Angeles Angels including Hamilton reduces role of accountability partner, Taylor Lindsey makes Baseball America Top 100 and much more…

The Story: Josh Hamilton has reduced the role of his accountability partner.

The Monkey Says: Good for him… hopefully. Shayne Kelley will still be there for him on the roads, but won't be around when the Angels are in Anaheim and he will no longer be dressed as a coach during games.

The Story: Taylor Lindsey made the Baseball America top 100 list at #93.

The Monkey Says: We did it! Finally! An Angel prospect made a top 100 list this year. Suck it, everyone else!

The Story: The Angels allowed Erick Aybar to play winter ball in the Dominican this offseason.

The Monkey Says: If he breaks down in August, he at least has an excuse now. Hopefully staying active in the winter will help Aybar be more consistent this year. It probably won't, but it is nice to hope for things.

The Story: Kaleb Cowart added 15 pounds of bulk this offseason.

The Monkey Says: That bulk should help him hit for more power if/when he actually hits the ball.

The Story: Albert Pujols is the most likely Angel to improve.

The Monkey Says: It turns out that having functioning feet and knees is pretty helpful.

The Story: Polling the internet massed on what a Mike Trout contract extension would look like.

The Monkey Says: As of this writing, the median likely extension is nine years, $250 million, which seems rather reasonable. Even the median max extension is only $300 million which I think tells us a lot about the moronic narrative that Trout could somehow land a $400 million deal.

The Story: A look back at the mad man managers of baseball past.

The Monkey Says: You want Gene Mauch stories? You got Gene Mauch stories.

The Story: Projecting the Angels bullpen.

The Monkey Says: Yes folks, a good Angels bullpen is looking, dare I say, likely. I know that is hard to imagine, but it can happen if you believe in it hard enough.
