The Monkey Says: He's at 5/1 odds with Miggy at 6/1. Shockingly, Albert Pujols is tied for third at 12/1. I'd like to take the opposite of that bet.
The Story: Matt Long is having a hot spring training.
The Monkey Says: #FREEMATTLONG. OK, I kind of accidentally started that trend. I'd like to see Long win a bench job, but I hardly think he is going to be a star. The #FREEMATTLONG movement is born more out of fun because rooting for an underdog is inherently fun. Also, Long making the team would mean Shuck wouldn't 😉
The Story: Erick Aybar is making a conscious effort to draw more walks this season.
The Monkey Says: He tried doing that in the 2010 season as well. It resulted in a career high walk rate of 5.9%, but he also hit .253 and a career worst strikeout rate. I'm sure it will work out much better this time around.
