The April 9th, 2014 edition of daily news for the Los Angeles Angels including Hamilton makes adjustments at plate, Moran to get Tommy John surgery and much more…

The Story: Josh Hamilton credits an adjustment at the plate for his hot start to the season.
The Monkey Says: That could be it, but it could also be that nobody is throwing him anything over the plate so far this season. Facing the Astros four times helps, too. I hope it keeps working for him, but I don’t know if I actually believe that this is real yet.

The Story: Brian Moran will undergo Tommy John surgery.
The Monkey Says: Welp, so much for that. The Angels have acquired three lefty relievers in the last two season. Brandon Sisk had to undergo Tommy John before throwing a pitch for the Angels and Sean Burnett has battle arm problems from the second he reported to his first training camp. I’m sure it is just a coincidence, but if I am a lefty and the Angels trade for me next offseason, I am probably going to write a eulogy for my arm, just in case.

The Story: Sean Burnett has been shutdown indefinitely with more elbow problems.
The Monkey Says: See, I told you. It is a damned curse. There is really very little reason to believe that Burnett will contribute this year now. It might happen, but the Angels need to proceed as if he is done for the season. Actually, they probably should’ve been proceeding in that fashion since November.

The Story: Don Baylor is hoping to be back with the Angels in six weeks.
The Monkey Says: He just got cleared for rehab and has a long recovery ahead of him, but he wants to just get to a point where he can be mobile enough to do his job.

The Story: Mike Trout is the “toolsiest” player of them all.
The Monkey Says: Meaning his other tools are so good that he still has more overall toolsiness than everyone else despite his middling arm strength.
