Boxscore Breakdown Game #12: Colonoscopy – Angels 14, Mets 2

Nishioka

It looks like the Angels finally figured out how to hit Bartolo Colon. Better late than never.

Run Expectancy Rundown

As you might imagine in a 14-run onslaught, the Halos had plenty of positive contributors. Mike Trout led the way with more unusual suspects in Ian Stewart and Hank Conger right behind him. Albert Pujols managed to cancel out his first inning homer though and ended up as one of three Angels on the wrong side of the ledger.

Again, as you might expect, not a lot went right for the Mets. D’Arnaud and Wright (before he got ejected) created some runs for the Mets, but everyone else was in the negative with Ruben Tejada outpacing the pack.

Starting Pitcher Scores

C.J. Wilson was rock solid, but also was pitching with a huge cushion most of the game. Bartolo Colon is always pitching with a huge cushion, but today he was downright terrible, which was great for the Angels.

Bullpen Battle

By the time the bullpens got involved, this game had a fork sticking out of its back. However, we did get our first look at Yoslan Herrera, who is actually a real person, as it turns out. Who knew?

Game Flow

Not a lot of drama in this one. The game was 100% win expectancy by the sixth inning.

Really, this could go to so many players, but Trout started off the devastation and led the team in WPA and RE24 for the day. Plus, you know, he’s Mike Trout.
